Spring 2017 Tour

718 Cyclery's Tour Season opens with our Spring Tour of the Hudson Valley from April 26th to 30th, 2017. We will visit 3 states in 5 days, while on our tour of the Hudson Valley's quaint towns and quiet roads.  The group will travel unsupported (meaning, you will carry your food and shelter), averaging about 30 miles/day.  This relaxed pace is great for beginners, or those who are not in so much of a hurry.  This trip will be led by 2 experienced 718 Tour Guides.

Rider cost will be $200, and covers insurance and campsite fees. You can book at bottom page. Riders will be responsible for all food and transportation cost (train up to Wassiac, and return from Cold Spring)

Backpack campsites can be found along several Blue Blazed Hiking Trails. A separate handout map is available for each site. The Blue Trails, developed and maintained by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, are located on both public and private lands and their continuance is dependent in many cases upon the goodwill of landowners.

  • All hikers are requested to stay on the established trails and to respect the rights and property of landowners on and adjacent to the trail.
  • The backpacking campsites are provided for the true backpacker only and therefore the length of stay at any one location is limited to one night.
  • The campsites are available year round, barring unusual or severe weather conditions.

Facilities

The backpack camping areas offer primitive campsites with few facilities. Although several have Adirondack-type lean-to's of limited capacity, campers are advised to bring their own tents. Also, drinking water is not provided except at approved state park and forest wells.
